Paint Correction: Cut & Polish That Actually Corrects

Swirl marks, wash scratches, oxidation and etch marks don't wash off — they're in the clear coat itself. Machine correction removes a measured whisker of clear coat to level the surface, and the deep, wet-look gloss comes back. Done in your driveway, anywhere in Southeast Melbourne.

Where the damage actually comes from

Most paint damage in our corner of Melbourne isn't accidents — it's habit and environment. Automatic brush washes drag grit across the paint in perfect circles. A well-meaning dry wipe with a rag does the same by hand — dragging dust across clear coat is sandpaper in slow motion. Add bonded fallout from the highways, bird droppings and sap that have chemically etched the surface, and paint slowly loses its depth until a dark car looks grey in sunlight.

Correction is the honest fix: instead of hiding damage under fillers and glazes that wash out in a month, a machine polish levels the clear coat so the scratches are actually gone.

Single-stage or multi-stage?

Single-stage correction — one refined cutting pass — removes the majority of swirl and wash marring and restores strong gloss. It's the sweet spot for most daily-driven cars, and it's the stage included in every Armour Trilogy coating.

Multi-stage correction adds a heavier cut before refinement for paint with deeper scratches, heavy oxidation or years of neglect — more time, more clear coat removed, reserved for cars that truly need it. We'll tell you plainly which one your paint calls for after seeing it in person; paying for stages your car doesn't need isn't our style.

Clear coat is finite. Correction is measured work, not a grinder — the aim is always maximum finish for minimum material removed, so the paint has plenty left in it for the years ahead.

Straight answers

Will the swirls come back?

Corrected scratches are gone for good — but new habits decide what happens next. Skip the brush wash, wash with proper technique (or let us handle it on Monthly Maintenance), and the finish holds. Coat it and it holds longer still.

Can every scratch be polished out?

If a fingernail catches in it, it's likely through the clear coat — that's touch-up or respray territory, and we'll say so on the spot rather than polish around it and take your money.

How long does it take?

Half a day to a full day at your place depending on vehicle size and paint condition. You supply power, water and a workspace; we bring the rest.
